Las Vegas Convention Center Hotels: An Exhibitor’s Strategic Guide

Share:

Las Vegas attracts tourists and travelers due to its unique nature. To you, as an exhibitor, this is a strategic showcase where you don’t win by chance, but by design. The groundwork starts much earlier, and your decision to choose Las Vegas starts this journey. Consider this: a hotel can be more than just a place to stay. It can help accelerate your competitive edge or, alternatively, be an anchor dragging your operational efficiency and morale. This document is about aiding you to make that decision wisely.

Your Hotel: Your Trade show Command Center

Energy and time are your most crucial assets to effectively carry out your operational goals. An Exhibit hotel that is poorly located adds to your problems by leading to Strip traffic and wasting time. Due to this, your team is drained by the time the briefing session begins. On the other hand, a strategically located hotel serves as a buffer and ensures that your team is sharp when beginning to work. A team member can grab strategically placed items easily. This efficiency saves time and ensures optimal performance. This makes your hotel choice the starting point of all your strategic choices.

Top Hotels Within Walking Distance to LVCC

If you are an exhibitor looking for convenience and time savings, then proximity to the Las Vegas Convention Center is essential. Having a location within walking distance from the LVCC saves time, alleviates traffic hassles, and offers respite from ride-sharing unpredictability. It gives both you and your team an expense-free option, as well as saves time, offering you flexibility and control. These are the top options when setting your base camp right at the convention center.

Las Vegas Marriott

  • Exhibitor Value: The time savings is an undeniable advantage. This location is strategically valuable for mobility for the entire team of booth managers for complicated setups and needs for the executives that need to balance floor time and private meeting time. The option to “pop back to the room” is a valuable advantage for managing the needs which need to be acted upon instantly and preserving energy.

Residence Inn by Marriott Las Vegas Convention Center

  • Location & Convenience: Located just a block behind the Marriott, the Residence Inn is a short 5 – 10 minute walk from the LVCC’s South Hall. It provides a bit calmer, non-gaming setting while still being right next to the action.

The breakfast provided is a real time saver, and ensures the team is well fed and focused from the get-go. It’s perfect for those with longer trips and for those who prefer a homey atmosphere.

Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino

  • Location & Convenience: The Westgate Las Vegas Resort is an iconic landmark, being right next to the LVCC’s North Hall and hosting an LVCC Monorail station. The location isn’t bad either, providing a true “walk across the street” experience.
  • Price Category: $$-$$$$ (Varies greatly based on the type of room booked and the dates of the event)
  • Exhibitor Value: Westgate provides the complete Las Vegas resort package including a casino, sportsbook, several dining venues, and shows within walking distance of the LVCC. Beyond a Hotel: Your Exhibit Success Partner

Your strategic judgment regarding team housing is spot on. While your team is cozy and well rested, the logistical fight is still ahead of you. The hotel is simply the foundation, the real campaign is for your exhibit. It is here, in the intricate realm of booth construction, freight logistics, and labor, that a tiny blunder can spiral out of control.

This is the point at which the magnitude of the challenge shifts the scope entirely from your control. It is at this juncture that it dawns on you that your victory in Las Vegas is not only going to rest on your team’s efforts. As you wrap up your client meetings and product demonstrations, who is making sure that your booth is coming from the marshalling yard on schedule? Who is dealing with the local union red tape to guarantee your installation is done without a hitch? Who is executing damage control for the aggravated situation of a graphic panel that is damaged is rendered unusable mid-transit?

Navigating Vegas: Transport and Logistics Tips

Moving around the area is a skill in and of itself. Here is some classified intel for your team that will come in handy.

  • The LVCC Monorail: This is often the most efficient way to travel along the Las Vegas Strip corridor.
    • Pros: It connects the LVCC to major hotels like the Westgate, Flamingo, and MGM Grand without street traffic. It is fast and clean, and runs frequently during major shows.
    • Cons: The system can get overcrowded during peak hours. Stations are usually placed at the far back end of the casinos, which requires a long walk. The system does not cover the airport or Downtown Las Vegas.
  • Rideshare (Uber/Lyft): while helpful, have their peculiarities while operating in Las Vegas.
    • Tip: The LVCC and all the major hotels have designated, rideshare pickup, and drop-off areas which are often inconvenient to access. Brief your team to look for the designated signage while leaving and ask them to be patient, as these areas get congested. Try to get rides from the main entrances because that will be a waste of time.
  • A Word on Drayage (Material Handling): For new exhibitors, this is by far the most underestimated and misunderstood expense. Drayage is the fee the general contractor charges for moving your freight from a loading dock to a booth space, and then back out after the show. It is a weighted, mandatory charge, and can be shockingly expensive. It is critical to manage the budget that, the shipment is planned to be as lightweight and consolidated as possible, and that the fees are properly calculated. This is a complex area where a seasoned provider like Aplus Expo can help with invaluable assistance.

Best Spots for Team Dinners & Client Meetings
